The blog posts that never were…

At times in my life I feel like things are rolling right along and we’re keeping our heads above water.  Then other times I feel like chores and errands and responsiblities mount up and loom over and I can’t keep up.  And I tend to get a bit stressed.  I guess everyone feels like this from time to time. Maybe this always comes with the end of the school year and I just block it out!

I’ve managed to keep some posts going around here, but they mostly revolve around picture with very few words!   I haven’t blogged as much as I would like to anyway.

Like I never blogged about the fact that Dan and I tried to do the Daniel Fast.

The Daniel Fast is a fast where you only eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

We lasted 5 days.  We were starved and abandoned the fast in favor of Weight Watchers which is actually going pretty well.

I feel like I was doing the Fast for the wrong reasons or it would have worked out better.  I wanted to loose some weight and really the fast should be done for spiritual reasons.

I also never blogged about our sanded and painted back door.  Actually I mentioned it a few weeks back.

It’s blue.

Very blue.

And the paint is thick.

Very thick.

But it’s no longer a peely and red.  And that’s a good thing, right?  Right?

Oh, I also never posted about Daniel getting better at baseball.

Something clicked with him and he figured out that he could hit the ball and actually got a single, triple, RBI, and crossed home plate last week.  We were thrilled!  And even better than that is that he is now excited to go to baseball and cheers on his team!  Yea D3!

I’m sure there are plenty of other things that have been “blog worthy” (or not so much, but whatever).  Oh, like I passed my Teacher Certification test and am now Certified!  That’s a biggie around here.

I’m going to try and do deep breathing and not stress during these last few weeks of school.  Maybe I should even try to enjoy it… there’s a concept!

  1. Just hearing the word “fasting” makes me want to eat more! I usually don’t snack alot, but on days like Good Friday, when Catholics are supposed to fast, and are allowed only snacks not equaling a meal, I feel like I could just snack all day long. It’s totally a mental thing! I think the key to any weight management is portions and exercise! I just discovered gelato (Publix finally started carrying it). It is the Euro version of ice cream, but with all natural ingredients and has 70% less fat/calories than ice cream!

Today, Nate was picking flowers today at soccer – can’t wait for him to find a thrill in a sport!

And, Nate’s friends have also lost a tooth. He has been so desperate to lose a tooth, that he asked Mike to kick him in the face! It is such a big deal! Congrats to D3!

Sis, don’t sweat the small stuff. As soon as things start piling up on your mind, slam on the breaks and throw away the to-do lists! You are doing such a wonderful job with your family, and that’s what the boys will remember most. They will not care how clean the house was or how often the blog was updated! I have to remind myself of this several times a day!

    Hugs to all!

Thanks for the sweet comments. I totally need to chill out, I just have a hard time doing that sometimes. 🙂 I can’t believe Nate asked Mike to kick him in the face. That’s too funny… and pitiful at the same time. Oh, and Daniel’s favorite pasttime at baseball is picking up dirt and throwing it up and catching it in his glove.
