The Crystal Palace is one of our favorite places to eat when we go to Disney World. It is a buffet dinner with Character Dining. We’ve been twice now, and the food was excellent the first time, and good the second. Food, however, is not the main draw. The character greetings keep us going back. Winnie-the-Pooh and his gang travel from table to table, giving kids some great one-on-one time along the way. You get a nice buffet meal, and don’t have to stand in a long line to meet your favorite characters. It’s a win-win!
The kids loved it. They don’t really like watching or reading the pooh stories, for some reason, but they love seeing them at Disney. Tigger is especially fun! I have proof from our May 2010 trip:
Here’s a description of the menu from the Disney website:
For lunch and dinner, the buffet abounds with American favorites like prime rib, rotisserie chicken and Atlantic salmon, along with dishes that have a delicious hint of curry, cinnamon, mango and papaya. Desserts tempt you with the likes of red velvet cheesecake, double chocolate brownie, apple cobbler and coconut flan. Or if you prefer, indulge more deeply in the famous sundae bar.
The Crystal Palace is on the Disney Dining Plan, and all in all, is a great place to eat when visiting the Magic Kingdom if you have kids who are interested in meeting the Pooh gang.
Tip: As with all Disney Restaurants, book this one in advance (up to 180 days) by calling 407-wdw-dine. Do yourself a favor, and reserve your dining the minute that you book your vacation!
Tip: Characters actually like it when you interact with them, so give them something to work with! Parents can guide a conversation. Ask Pooh if they give him lots of honey to eat, or ask Eeyore if he found his tail. If you know Disney characters, you know they like to ham it up 🙂 (and if you know me, you know I like to ham it up too).
